19th-century SPANISH school, in the style of Andrés de LEITO Portrait of a monk Original canvas 29.5 x 23 cm Note: This painting draws on depictions of Saint Francis of Paola or an anonymous monk in prayer, which were very common in Catholic art of the Counter-Reformation. The artist appears to have drawn inspiration from a painting by Andrés de Leito (active around 1663), which went on sale on March 29, 2022, in Madrid (Subastas Segre, lot 119).
