Exceptional and very important TAPIS au point de la Savonnerie, France, Late 19th century. Wool velvet on cotton foundation. Décor inspired by the cartoons of Charles Le Brun under Louis XIV. A lilac field decorated with a central medallion in the form of a carpet with a polychrome flower crown framing an open umbrella inlaid with a second flower crown and adorned with four finely drawn lyre spandrels, framed by garlands of multicolored flowers and foliage and reserves, typical compartments of the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Beautiful frame with rows of flowers and foliage framed by laurels. Beautiful polychromy. 500 x 400 cm Good condition.
