Exceptional, fine and rare Kachan Mortachem RUG (Persia) late 19th century. Workshop of the famous Master MORTACHEMI. Silky lambswool velvet on cotton foundation. Midnight-blue field decorated with polychrome flowering palmettes framing a large central brick and ivory medallion in the shape of a stylized diamond. Density of approx. 10,000 knots per dm2. 200 x 134 cm. Remarkable finesse. Fairly good overall condition. Kachan Mortachem are currently the most sought-after and highly prized carpets.
