LARGE AND FINE SILK RUG, Ghoum, Shah period circa 1965. Silk velvet on silk foundation. Ivory field with original reserve decoration of birds and flowers surrounded by wild animals (inspired by 17th-century Persian miniatures by Shah Abbas I), framing a large central rosette of old gold poly-lobes with floral vases and palmettes. Five borders, the main one golden yellow with interlacing floral bulbs and animals. Four sky-blue spandrels with wreaths of flowers. Dimensions: 320 x 215 cm.
