IMPORTANT AND FINE RUG, Sarouk, Iran mid-20th century. High-quality silky lambswool velvet on cotton backing. Beautiful finesse. Décor reminiscent of the famous Ardebil carpet exhibited at the Museum Albert and Victoria in London. Navy blue field with polychrome scrolls and garlands of flowers, adorned with a large central poly-lobed rosette with a multicolored wreath of flowers. Four spandrels with motifs echoing the central medallion. Seven borders, the main one salmon-pink with rows of polychrome flower bulbs. Dimensions: 360 x 270 cm. Good condition.
