Georges LENFANT - Lot 27
Georges LENFANT Gold (750‰) choker ribbon necklace with Polish link. Ratchet clasp and safety eight. French work. Maitre Joaillier hallmark GL and dice. Circa 1970 Weight : 78.16 g. Both skilful and daring, Georges LENFANT (1878-1948) and his eponymous workshop are among the great names in 20th-century French jewelry. From the 1920s onwards, he made a name for himself with his exceptional expertise in the art of knitwear, which he created in twists, complex weaves or supple structures, as well as in his mastery of different-colored golds, which he liked to combine to create contrast and movement. A discreet but unavoidable collaborator of major houses such as Cartier, Hermès, Mellerio, Fred and Tiffany & Co., he has left a lasting mark on the history of French jewelry with his emblematic style. Its GL hallmark is as much a guarantee of quality as a symbol of timeless elegance. Beneath its pure lines, this necklace reveals a striking modernity through the refinement of its mesh, a reflection of Georges Lenfant's virtuosity.
