Exceptional and very important TAPIS au point de la Savonnerie, XXth century. Exceptional and very important TAPIS au point de la Savonnerie, Wool velvet on cotton foundation. Ivory field decorated with a very large central medallion featuring a polychrome crown of stylized flowers and foliage, surrounded by reserves inlaid with stylized breastplates bearing the coat of arms of France, with fleur-de-lys and circled by crowns of stylized flowers and foliage. Four midnight-blue spandrels with scrolls of fine crenellated branches and stylized acanthus foliage in the form of polychrome horns of plenty. Old gold scrolled border forming a gilded wood frame. 20th century. Size: 550 x 360 cm. (Good condition)
