Tapis Penjab, Inde. Penjab silk carpet, India. Silk velvet on silk foundation. A polylobed rosette with chestnut interlacing, old gold pendants and ivory hearts, sits at the center of a spherical ivory counter-field covered with floral scrolls. It is set on a brick field with vegetal arabesques and floral bouquets. Two bluish counter borders with garlands of flowers frame the main anthracite border, with a succession of interlacing multicolored floral compositions. Rare graphics. Mid-twentieth century.
