Important Savonnerie point rug. Wool velvet on cotton backing. Black field decorated with scrolls of crenellated foliage in golden-yellow twists, framing a central round medallion with pastel-toned flower crowns, inlaid with a polychrome floral bouquet. Beautifully balanced frame decorated with a succession of bulbous reserves and garlands of multicolored flowers. Mid-twentieth century. Dimensions: 365 x 255 cm. (Good general condition)
