Wool velvet on wool foundation.
Twelve caissons serve as a field, highlighted by lacework, for this carpet adorned with polychrome, stylized, crenellated, hooked, cruciform gühls and hearts with stars of the Medes. Each gühl appears within monochrome hexagons with spandrels.
A reserve of multicolored Kotchaks in the upper part embellishes the whole.
The main border, in old gold, is adorned with a series of Kotchaks medallions flanked by an ivory counter-border decorated with trophies, all in polychrome.
