Very large Mir-sarabend rug, Persia Late 19th century. Wool velvet on cotton backing. Brick background with polychrome stylized palmettes. Main border with ivory background and geometric palmettes, surrounded by four counter-borders with garlands of small flowers and chess pieces in positive and negative.
