BIDJAR carpet (Persia), late 19th century - Lot 95
BIDJAR carpet (Persia), late 19th century Wool velvet on cotton backing. A midnight-blue, serrated field hosts a trellis of symmetrical stylized floral compositions, composing a pavement of star-shaped and cruciform flowers, embellished with variegated birds. Six sky, ivory and old gold counter-borders, with garlands of florets and leaves, enclose the main salmon border, with a series of multicolored corollas with cruciform hearts, set on interlacing leafy stems, in the Caucasian style.
