MELAYER carpet (Persia), late 19th century Wool velvet on cotton backing. A magnificent celadon-green, pink and ivory poly-lobed lozenge medallion, vegetalized with multicolored branches and floral pendants, sits at the center of a marine field covered with a trellis of flowering branches. Four eccentric spandrels with bouquets of flowers complete the ensemble. A superb navy main border with undulating scrolls and multicolored blossoming corollas, flanked by highlights, completes the frame. A beautiful set. Dimensions: 200 x 135cm.
