KIRMAN carpet (Persia), late 19th century early 20th century - Lot 107
KIRMAN carpet (Persia), late 19th century early 20th century Dimensions : 480 x 300cm. Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on a cotton foundation. This carpet offers us the vision of a pavement in the antique style, with a brick background, covered with a polychrome flowering pattern. The decoration consists in the adjustment in staggered rows of oblong ivory medallions, poly-lobed and stylized. Some of them rest on cruciform "foundations" that remind us of the outlines of a church. While others are placed on shields in leafy brackets, old gold. The whole is interspersed with marine cartouche in the form of shields more or less important. Four counter borders, sky and navy, with garlands of flowers enclose the main one, brick, with a succession of floral compositions and stylized flowers, accommodated with old gold acanthus leaves. Pleasant visual.
