Fine SAROUK (Persian) carpet, early 20th... - Lot 21 - Lemon Auction
Fine SAROUK (Persian) carpet, early 20th century. Technical characteristics: Wool velvet on cotton foundations. A curious decoration composes this Sarouk carpet, indeed, of six vases located at each end, an explosion of multicoloured vegetal sheaves with volutes is extracted, placed on a marine field. While serving as a shelter for numerous birds, they give the impression of meeting in the centre, where a flowered rosette stands out. Four small "Abjad" writings line the field. The frame is composed of a main chestnut border, following open corollas, flanked by two small ivory counter-borders with garlands of flowers. Beautiful graphics. Good general condition. Dimensions : 210 x 135cm
