AKSTAFA (Caucasus), late 19th century - Lot 74
AKSTAFA (Caucasus), late 19th century A marine field, with flowers, stars, diamonds, animals, botehs, entomological forms, supports four important star-shaped rhombic medallions, salmon, pistachio and sky, with stylized cruciform floral compositions. The octagonal hearts are similar to polychrome "Gühls". Fleurettes, insects and Botehs complete these medallions. They are alternated by ten magnificent multicoloured peacocks in majesty. Kotchak boxes, starry flowers, vegetalized and animated Botehs also enrich this exceptional decoration typical of Akstafa carpets. The two main borders, ivory and sky, are made of chess pieces and polychrome floral stems. Three ivory highlights with a succession of small multicoloured rhombuses flank the main ones. Pastel colors and magnificent Akstafa copy. 300 x 130cm
