Large and fine Tabriz rug, mid 20th c., in silky wool and cotton Large and fine Tabriz rug, Silky wool pile on cotton backing. Density. Approx. 7,000 knots per dm2. Beige field decorated with geometrically stylized palmettes and flower bulbs in polychrome, surrounded by foliage and crenellated branches in the shape of octopuses, crab claws and stylized ram's horns. Triple borders, the main one cream, with decoration reminiscent of the central field. Northwest Iran, mid-20th century. Dimensions: 339 x 244 cm. (Fairly good condition, small fraying on the selvage)
